چکیده

A new proposal for incorporating new evidence in an agent's knowledge base is presented in this paper. This proposal is based on a semi-qualitative notion of plausibility and on the abductive explanation for the newly observed fact. Plausibility is determined by speciicity relations between the default rules in the agent's knowledge base and by the agent's contingential knowledge. We demonstrate how these speci-city relations and the notion of plausibility degree can be represented by an extended logic program.

Book Review: "Developing Expertise Through Experience"

The book ‘Developing expertise through experience’consists of twenty chapters written by language educators. Alan Maley has edited the book. The writers of the chapters have written their stories and experiences about learning English and being an Educator with regard to the notion of ‘sense of plausibility’ defined by Prabhu. Prabhu explains that plausibility in pedagogy is teachers’ intuition...

Dynamic Belief Revision over Multi-Agent Plausibility Models

In this paper, we develop a notion of doxastic actions, general enough to cover all examples of communication actions and most other belief-changing actions encountered in the literature, but also flexible enough to deal with the issue of (static and dynamic) revision of beliefs. This can be seen as a natural extension of the work in [3, 4] on “epistemic actions”, incorporating ideas from the s...

A General Model for Epistemic State Revision using Plausibility Measures

In this paper, we present a general revision model on epistemic states based on plausibility measures proposed by Friedman and Halpern. We propose our revision strategy and give some desirable properties, e.g., the reversible and commutative properties. Moreover, we develop a notion called plausibility kinematics and show that our revision strategy follows plausibility kinematics. Furthermore, ...

Revision by comparison

Since the early 1980s, logical theories of belief revision have offered formal methods for the transformation of knowledge bases or “corpora” of data and beliefs. Early models have dealt with unconditional acceptance and integration of potentially belief-contravening pieces of information into the existing corpus. More recently, models of “non-prioritized” revision were proposed that allow the ...

The Logic of Conditional Doxastic Actions: A theory of dynamic multi-agent belief revision

We present a logic of conditional doxastic actions, obtained by incorporating ideas from belief revision theory into the usual dynamic logic of epistemic actions. We do this by extending to actions the setting of epistemic plausibility models, developed in Baltag and Smets (2006) for representing (static) conditional beliefs. We introduce a natural extension of the notion of update product from...
